2008 'Octa' Wilson Golf Day

The 7th Annual “Octa” Wilson Golf Day was held at Box Hill Golf Club on Friday 10th October 2008.

A total of 46 golfers including 33 Former Players and Officials enjoyed wonderful conditions on a magnificent day. We were fortunate to enjoy the company of Gary March (President) Tony Free (Director) and Dale Weightman (Development Officer) from the Senior Club who joined Mike Perry and other former players and officials together with a dozen members of the Box Hill Golf Club.

A big thank you to Bill Meaklim who drove the drink cart around quenching the thirst of all players.

To our sponsors, Frank Loughran from Southern Ceilings who sponsored the longest drives, Peter Schaeffer (son of the late great South Melbourne player Keith) from Calloway Golf and our own Matt Rogers from Bridgestone Golf, thanks a million guys as your donations help make it a great day. Thank you also to Trevor McGinley who supplied 3 First Aid Kits for prizes.

This day has become a very popular one, so if you have not yet played in the event get together with a couple of your former team mates and enjoy a great day. You have 12 months to clear you diaries.

Prize winners for the day were:

Winner: Wayne Walsh

Runner Up: Todd Menegola

Longest Drive: Mike Humphris

Nearest the Pin: Emmett Dunne

NAGA (Not a golfer’s arsehole) Award: This was a dead heat between Neville Crowe and Owen Madigan.

Matt Gray, the professional at Box Hill Golf Club, has donated 3 lessons to both players. Thank you Matt and good luck with these two.

Back To The 90's (Legends Game)

 2017 legends game 640

To all those who represented the Tigers on and off the field in the 90’s, if it wasn’t for your involvement and sacrifice during this decade the Tigers would not exist, let alone survive to be the Club we are today! People rattled money tins along Punt Road, took pay cuts and played for the love of the jumper and teammates.

The Richmond Former Players & Officials are asking you for one more effort. Come and celebrate with us at the Legend’s Cup match day function!

Last year the boys from the 80’s had a great day and now it’s “Back to the ‘90’s”! You won’t regret it! All 1990's U19’s, Reserves, Seniors & Officials and partners are welcome. ALL RFP&OA members are welcome to attend.

It is a free day including entry and seating. There is only one requirement… you must be a financial member of the Richmond Former Players & Officials Assoc.

The day begins at 11.00am at the “G” on Saturday 8th April, which is Round 3 vs West Coast, with a “Legends” game featuring former players and Corporates. If you wish to participate you can download the entry form here... http://www.formertigers.com.au/images/downloads/2017-legends-game.pdf

Following the Legends game there will be a social gathering throughout the afternoon in the Harrison Room at the G with drinks at bar prices.

After the AFL match everyone is invited back to Punt Road for drinks and finger food with the compliments of RFP&OA and RFC.

So, if you haven’t become a member of the Richmond Former Players and Officials Association yet, download the membership form http://www.formertigers.com.au/images/downloads/2017-membership.pdf and return it before 26th March 2017.

Having done that, and you would like to attend the 1990’s Reunion, please advise Leonie Bawden at formerplayers@richmondfc.com.au or 0438 300 001 by close of business 27th March 2017.

Entry & seating tickets will be distributed probably in the week before the Reunion.

Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!
