2011 'Octa' Wilson Golf Day
The former players held their 10th Annual “Octa” Wilson Golf Classic at Box Hill Golf Club on Friday 25th November under the threat of storms which fortunately did not eventuate.
38 players contested the tournament and enjoyed drinks, nibblies and each other’s company afterwards.
It was unfortunate that the 2011 Draft was held in Sydney the previous night preventing the Football Department and the C.E.O. Brendon Gale from competing, however it was great to see the President of the Richmond Football Club Gary March join in and we were all very interested to hear what he said after the game about our new recruits and the positive outlook the club has for the future.
Scott Turner (winner in 2004) came with three mates from Ararat, while Alan McKellar and Stephen James competed for the first time.
It was also good to see Kevin Callander and Stan Roberts play after bouts of illness and injury. John Ronaldson who won the first two years of the classic, was in attendance and helped with registration of players and then road shotgun to Bill Meaklim on the drinks cart. A big thank you to both. Hopefully big John will be okay to play next year after recovering from 2 serious leg operations.
A big thank you to the staff of the Box Hill Golf Club for the assistance and also the way the course was presented.
Also thank you to Ian “Octa” Wilson for his generous donation, Vice President Peter Williams and his company Bradnams, Matt Rogers and his company Bridgestone Golf for their kind donations of prizes and Frank Loughran and his company Southern Ceilings Wonthaggi for his sponsorship of a hole. The day would not function properly without these people.
This years winners were:
|Winner||Frank Loughran||H’cap 19||39 points|
|Runner Up||John Barron||H’cap 18||37 points|
|Third||Barry Cameron||H’cap 19||36 points|

All in all a great day was had by all. Why not join us next year?
Back To The 90's (Legends Game)
To all those who represented the Tigers on and off the field in the 90’s, if it wasn’t for your involvement and sacrifice during this decade the Tigers would not exist, let alone survive to be the Club we are today! People rattled money tins along Punt Road, took pay cuts and played for the love of the jumper and teammates.
The Richmond Former Players & Officials are asking you for one more effort. Come and celebrate with us at the Legend’s Cup match day function!
Last year the boys from the 80’s had a great day and now it’s “Back to the ‘90’s”! You won’t regret it! All 1990's U19’s, Reserves, Seniors & Officials and partners are welcome. ALL RFP&OA members are welcome to attend.
It is a free day including entry and seating. There is only one requirement… you must be a financial member of the Richmond Former Players & Officials Assoc.
The day begins at 11.00am at the “G” on Saturday 8th April, which is Round 3 vs West Coast, with a “Legends” game featuring former players and Corporates. If you wish to participate you can download the entry form here... http://
Following the Legends game there will be a social gathering throughout the afternoon in the Harrison Room at the G with drinks at bar prices.
After the AFL match everyone is invited back to Punt Road for drinks and finger food with the compliments of RFP&OA and RFC.
So, if you haven’t become a member of the Richmond Former Players and Officials Association yet, download the membership form http://
Having done that, and you would like to attend the 1990’s Reunion, please advise Leonie Bawden at email@example.com
Entry & seating tickets will be distributed probably in the week before the Reunion.
Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!
